Sentara Selects iXmatch for Advanced Search

iXmatch's Search Software Helps Healthcare Provider's Customers and Employees Easily Find Electronic Documents

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(MARKET WIRE)--Apr 6, 2004 -- iXmatch Inc., a leader in advanced search software, today announced that Sentara Healthcare, a premier not-for-profit healthcare provider in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, licensed its state-of-the-art search engine, iXfind. iXfind enables Sentara customers and employees to easily find the information they are seeking.

Sentara uses iXfind to search its intranet, extranet and Web site. "With 1.6 million customers and 15,000 employees in 70 locations, we need to make sure everyone can quickly and easily find relevant content, no matter what they're looking for or how they come looking for it," said Sam Owens, Director of Systems Integration, Sentara. "iXmatch's innovative approach to search enables us to take full advantage of all the content we have available, and put it into context for everyone. We see iXmatch as part of a sophisticated knowledge-management system that connects our employees, customers and providers with the information they need."

iXfind, iXmatch's advanced search engine, incorporates innovative search methods to find, evaluate, and rank the most relevant results. iXfind puts these results into context by dynamically clustering them into groups of similar documents. For example, a search for "stress" returns thousands of results that are clustered on the fly into contextually relevant sub-groups such as stress management, heart attacks, headaches, and others. Employees and customers can better manage information overload and more easily navigate by selecting relevant content groups.

iXfind is tightly integrated with Sentara's content management system, Microsoft Content Management Server 2002. It is used to search through all of Sentara's content, both in- and outside of Content Management Server. "The ability to search through all of their content through one interface was critical," said Gopal Sadagopal, iXmatch Cofounder and Vice President of Product Development. "Our approach to combining information from multiple sources and then providing contextually relevant results for all levels of users makes iXfind a perfect solution for Sentara."
